Fun Things to Do in Portland for the Holidays

We hope you can kick back and enjoy the holidays with your family and friends this year. If you’re looking for a Portland experience this Christmas, here are a few Christmas-y outings and events to enjoy.

Stroll Peacock Lane

Peacock Lane is an annual Portland Christmas tradition. The houses in this southeast neighborhood have been decorating since the 1920’s! Enjoy an evening filled with Christmas lights, carolers, and warm vibes. It is open until December 31st from 6 pm – 11 pm.

Get Inspired at ZooLights

ZoolLights is the Oregon Zoo’s annual winter festival. See the Oregon Zoo light up at night with over 1.5 million lights. This is an outing the whole family will love!

It is open through January 3rd, 2016 from 5 pm – 9 pm.

Check Out Portland’s Very Own Rudolph

You’ve seen the famous Portland sign if you’ve driven over the Burnside bridge into downtown. Around this time of year, the nose on the deer turns red. Here’s the full story on why each year Portland’s skyline hosts our very own Rudolph.

Visit the Christmas Tree in Pioneer Square

Care to see the largest lit up Christmas tree in Portland? Head on down to Pioneer Square and snap a picture in front of this giant beauty. Take a piece of the tree home when you buy a light. A $5 donation goes to one of four organizations of your choice who are providing vital services to our community.

Watch for Santa’s Arrival from Mt. Tabor

There’s going to be a full moon on Christmas – the first since 1977! Head up to Mt. Tabor in SE Portland for a grand view of the beautiful Rose City. It’s the perfect spot for Santa watching.

Catch a Piece of Portland History at Pittock Mansion

Through January 2nd, Pittock Mansion is open for tours celebrating the holiday season with The Magic of Wintertime. You’ll find this historic Portland home decked out with winter wonderland decorations inspired by skiing and sledding, cocoa and warm fireplaces, and holidays surrounded by family and friends.

From all of us at World Cup Coffee, we hope you have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
